History and mission of The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra!

THE WOODLANDS SYMPHONY

Overview

The Woodlands Symphony Orchestra (WSO) is a successful fine arts addition that continues to enhance the cultural experience of The Woodlands and surrounding cities north of Houston. This not-for- profit organization works side-by-side with government (Arts in the Parks/Woodlands Parks and Recreation for Free Concerts) churches (Handel’s Messiah Free Concert at Lord of Life Lutheran and this year at First Baptist Church The Woodlands and The Woodlands Methodist Church) and with schools (Lone Star College Montgomery – Home of the Woodlands Area Youth Symphony) to create opportunities for students and amateur musicians to perform alongside WSO professional musicians AND has initiated a new educational outreach program: Woodlands Area Youth Symphony (W.A.Y.S.) — a student orchestra reaching out to Conroe, Tomball, Magnolia, Willis, Oak Ridge, Spring, Klein and The Woodlands.

These accomplishments have all taken place in less than three years and now for year four, the CREATE Season adding the desire to continue to go deeper into new and exciting community relations. Chamber music concert series and healing arts programs are ready to roll out and enhance the already existing full concert series. We are reaching out to hospitals and assisted living communities first along with area upscale dining and art galleries that will host concerts in an intimate setting.

Donations and sponsorships of The Woodlands Symphony enable a  wide range of concerts, reach thousands of residents, and fill a cultural void that has existed in the North Houston/Montgomery County Region for many years. Contributions are activated before the first downbeat and resonate long after the applause of our appreciative audiences has ended.
